RESEARCH AREAS
Geodesic architectures consisting of mainly pure-carbon skeletons reached great interest within the scientific community, not only because they are ideally suited as starting materials for the total synthesis of fullerenes and carbon nanotubes, but also due to their inherent stereoelectronic properties. The incorporation of a porphyrin core to these structures would lead to new compounds -geodesic porphyrins- with promising optoelectronic properties and versatile tuning features. My research is focused on the synthesis of carbon-rich porphyrins, in particular substituted tetrabenzoporphyrins as precursors towards porphyrin-nanographene conjugates.
