Visiting research stay (Prof. Eiichi Nakamura, The University of Tokyo, June – August/2018) with a fellowship awarded by the Japan Society  for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)

RESEARCH AREAS

Hexaarylbenzenes (HABs) and their oxidized derivatives hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronenes (HBCs) show interesting properties that play an important role in materials chemistry. We investigate the synthesis of the family of these chemical compounds and are focused on using them as platform for donor-acceptor systems and as possible models for molecular electronics. Furthermore, we try to tune their properties by variation of their substitution pattern and introduction of different functional groups. Furthermore, we are also interested in the synthesis of porphyrins and benzoporphyrins, as well as their behavior on metal surfaces and graphene.
